Mark your calendars to make a difference in the lives of our veterans by joining us for our next Giveback Tuesday on March 23 at our Rock Hill location! This month, we will be donating money to Dogs for Our Brave.
Due to current COVID-19 regulations in St. Louis County, we have limited indoor dining available. Of course, you can still take advantage of our curbside pickup services! If you’d like a change of pace, feel free to indulge in our delicious handmade Italian food on our beautiful patio!
Each month, we’re proud to feature a local nonprofit charity and donate 100% of the earned proceeds from the entire day to the organization. Lunch, dinner, drinks, and carryout are all included. So far, Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria has donated $248,849 to nonprofit organizations here in St. Louis!
Funds raised during our Giveback Tuesday event this month will go toward Dogs for Our Brave’s service dogs, which are trained to assist veterans. The nonprofit provides personally trained service dogs at no cost to veterans who have suffered a debilitating injury or illness while in service to our country. However, it costs the nonprofit $28,000 to train just one dog in their program over the course of 18 months. In order to fully realize their mission without adding financial burden, Dogs for Our Brave also provides a continuum of free support, which covers all food, veterinary care, and pharmaceuticals throughout the dog’s life.
Each dog will be trained to do normal commands (sit, lay, come, and stay), assistance commands, Canine Good Citizen (CGC) skills, and Assistance Dog International (ADI) commands. Some of these skills include opening the fridge to grab a bottle of water, turning lights on and off, and retrieving items. All of their dogs also learn psychiatric skills to assist their veteran with PTSD episodes and nightmare interruption. Other commands that are tailored to each veteran’s needs will be taught as well. In the end, it’s about saving and enriching two lives – the veteran and the dog!
