Join Us in Rock Hill on September 24 for Giveback Tuesday!

This month, KPPO is proud to announce another Giveback Tuesday event for The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in St. Louis, which provides free lodging for cancer patients and their caregivers traveling for treatment. Mark your calendars and join us in Rock Hill on Tuesday, September 24 to support this important organization!

Every month, we are proud to feature a local nonprofit organization and donate 100% of the earned proceeds from the entire day to the charity. Lunch, dinner, drinks, and carryout are all included. So far, Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria has donated $215,880 to local nonprofit organizations.

Funds raised from this Giveback Tuesday event will help fund the day-to-day expenses the Hope Lodge in St. Louis needs to provide free lodging, programs, and services to cancer patients and their caregivers who must travel away from home for treatment.

“Hope Lodge addresses one of the most significant barriers cancer patients face: the lack of transportation and lodging needed to start and complete treatment. We give a free, temporary refuge to those who would otherwise not be able to afford or access the care and treatment they need to beat their cancer. Our guests arrive thinking of Hope Lodge as a free place to stay but leave seeing us as their second home and our staff as their family,” said Ashilay Dillow, assistant manager at Hope Lodge. “Donations will help ensure that we are here for all who need us today and in the future.”

The first Hope Lodge facility was founded in Charleston, South Carolina in 1970. This concept came from Margot Freudenberg, a leader in the Charleston medical and business communities. She saw a similar facility when she traveled through Australia and New Zealand with President Eisenhower’s People to People Ambassador Program. After cancer touched her family, Margot worked hard to establish the first Hope Lodge community in the United States, starting with Charleston.

Today, there are 32 locations near major cancer centers and hospitals in the United States and Puerto Rico, including two facilities in St. Louis and Kansas City. Opened in 1995, the St. Louis branch provided 9,176 free nights of lodging and support to more than 2,700 patients and their caregivers last year.

“We anticipate as many as 13,000 patients and caregivers will turn to our Hope Lodge for help in the next 10 years,” Dillow said.

Remember, this time we are in Rock Hill to raise money for Hope Lodge. As always, 100% of the net profits from the entire day will be donated, so bring your friends and family along for a fun night filled with delicious food!

There’s a lot to be excited about this month. We opened our Ballpark Village location with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 22, our third and biggest location with nearly 10,000 sq. ft. It’s located on Clark Ave, across the street from Gate 4 at Busch Stadium. We’re also now donating twice a month to a local nonprofit. Nonprofits that join the Giveback Tuesday program through the Ballpark Village location will be unique, with a focus on giving back to the city of St. Louis and youth sports programs.
