Love eating great food for a good cause? Want to make a real difference in your community? You won’t want to miss our upcoming Giveback Tuesday event. Join us on March 26 at our location in Rock Hill to help us give back to DOORWAYS this month!
Every month, we are proud to feature a local nonprofit charity and donate 100% of the earned proceeds from the entire day to the charity. Lunch, dinner, drinks, and carryout are all included. So far, we’ve donated $192,375 to local nonprofit organizations.
Funds raised from this Giveback Tuesday will be used to augment highly restrictive government grants for DOORWAYS.
“While government grants generally provide for housing and health initiatives, it is the funding we receive from private philanthropy that helps us provide hope to our residents and clients,” said Jim Timmerberg, Director of Development at DOORWAYS. “For example, we can use this funding to provide emergency housing residents with clothing, hygienic items, and food, or funding could be directed to help a young mother in need of housing afford a security deposit.”
An interfaith non-profit organization, DOORWAYS was founded in 1988 by a group of concerned faith leaders who believed the best response to HIV/AIDS is compassionate care. This remains the hallmark of the nonprofit’s guidelines as they provide housing and related support services daily to those who are affected by HIV/AIDS, homelessness, and poverty.
Since its founding, DOORWAYS has developed several programs that offer a variety of housing options. These unique programs are designed to meet the diverse needs of the HIV-affected population, the chronically ill, those who cannot live independently, and many more. Among them is Cooper House, the most comprehensive and service-enriched program, which offers permanent supportive housing to the most frail and vulnerable whose health doesn’t allow them to live alone. In the past year alone, DOORWAYS has helped more than 3,000 men, women, and children in the Greater St. Louis region.
“Our mission is to provide housing, renewed health, and hope to the thousands of people in the metropolitan St. Louis region whose lives are affected by HIV/AIDS,” Timmerberg said. “We do everything we can to help improve the quality of life and health in these people with our many services, and we cannot accomplish that without the donations that are so generously given to us.”
Please join us at our Rock Hill location to support DOORWAYS. Remember: 100% of profits from the entire day will be donated, so bring your family and friends for a fun night filled with delicious food!
