Make Plans to Help Flance Early Learning Center This Jan 24!

When you come to our Giveback Tuesday events, you’ll enjoy delicious, handmade Italian food and make a difference in your community at the same time! Be sure to join us on January 24 for the upcoming event at our Rock Hill location! The profits will be donated to Flance Early Learning Center, a nonprofit organization that ensures students are ready for kindergarten, meaning they have the physical, intellectual, and social-emotional tools needed to succeed in school.

Each month, we’re proud to feature a local nonprofit charity and donate 100% of the earned proceeds from the entire day to the organization. Lunch, dinner, drinks, and carryout are all included. So far, Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria has donated $344,444.58 to nonprofit organizations here in St. Louis.

Flance is located in north St. Louis in one of most distressed zip codes in the state, 63106. Over 70% of the children served come from families living at or below federal poverty guidelines and attend Flance at no charge. Flance ensures that these children receive the same care, education, nutrition and health care as children who live in more advantaged areas of our community.

Flance utilizes The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool. This nationally recognized researched-based program is the most widely used preschool curriculum in the country. Opportunities for hands-on exploration and discovery teach children to be creative, confident thinkers.

Additionally, classroom teachers at Flance employ the Conscious Discipline philosophy in their approach to interacting with children. Conscious Discipline, embraced in 101 countries and 25 languages, is a comprehensive classroom management program and a social-emotional curriculum. Since 1996, it has fostered a shift in thinking that empowers adults and children to be the change they want to see in the world.

Funds raised from Giveback Tuesday will go toward providing children from extremely low-income households with:

  • infant childcare,
  • toddler and preschool education,
  • two nutritious meals each day,
  • art, music, and play therapy,
  • medical and dental screenings and treatment,
  • vision screenings and glasses,
  • and outdoor events that promote community and family togetherness.

The nonprofit organization, founded in 2014, is named in honor of I. Jerome Flance, M.D., and his wife, Rosemary. Dr. Flance opened a free medical clinic in the 1960s and was passionate about giving all children the best possible life, regardless of socioeconomic circumstances. Flance Early Learning Center served 156 children and an additional 250 people through events in the 2021 - 2022 school year.

Be sure to mark your calendars for our Giveback Tuesday event this month! 100% of earned profits will be benefiting Flance Early Learning Center and their awesome cause. Give us a call at (314) 942-6555 with any questions, and visit www.katiespizzaandpasta.com to make a dinner reservation or order curbside pickup. We look forward to seeing you at our Rock Hill location on January 24!
