Join Us in Town & Country on August 27 for Giveback Tuesday!

This month, KPPO is proud to announce another Giveback Tuesday event for a local charity who provides vision services to over 40,000 students in the St. Louis area; Kids Vision for Life St. Louis! Join us in Town & Country on Tuesday, August 27 to support this great organization.

Every month, we are proud to feature a local nonprofit charity and donate 100% of the earned proceeds from the entire day to the charity. Lunch, dinner, drinks, and carryout are all included. So far, Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria has donated $214,080 to local nonprofit organizations.

Support from Katie’s Giveback Tuesday will provide vision exams and prescription eyeglasses for St. Louis’s most vulnerable children living below the poverty line. Additionally, funds will support Kids Vision for Life St. Louis’s effort to raise awareness of the importance of vision health through community outreach at back-to-school evenings in local school districts.

“There’s no better feeling than seeing the look on a child’s face when we give them a pair of glasses for the first time,” says JJ Scarbrough from Kids Vision for Life St. Louis. “With Chef Katie Collier’s donation, we’re going to see a lot of happy faces this school year.”

According to the nonprofit, approximately 80% of what a child learns is acquired through their eyes. Children with uncorrected vision are more likely to drop out of school and may go on to face lifelong struggles with literacy, low self-esteem, unemployment, poverty, and crime. The surprising reality is that one in four American children has a vision problem – and the number climbs as high as 50% in some inner-city communities. Research suggests 90% of those children are not wearing glasses today. Studies also show that up to 74% of juvenile offenders may have vision problems.

Kids Vision for Life is always looking for community volunteers and supporters! Please reach out to JJ Scarbrough @ JJM@kidsvisionforlifestlouis.com!

Don’t forget, this time we are in Town & Country to raise money for Kids Vision for Life St. Louis. 100% of the net profits from the entire day will be donated, so bring your friends and family along for a fun night filled with delicious food!
