Siteman Cancer Center has been working to prevent cancer in the community and transform cancer patient care through scientific discovery since their inception in 1999. Each year, the center makes internationally recognized advances in the fields of cancer research, treatment, and prevention. They provide ongoing care to about 40,000 people every year, making it one of the largest cancer centers in the United States.

All funds donated from this Giveback Tuesday event will be directed to the Siteman Discovery Fund, which will be used for cancer research.

Be sure to join us this month for our September Giveback Tuesday, which is set for Tues., September 27. This month, our Giveback Tuesday event will benefit Miriam School.

Every month, we are proud to feature a local nonprofit charity and donate 100% of the earned proceeds from the entire day to the charity. Lunch, dinner, drinks, and carry-out all go to the designated charity. We started Giveback Tuesday in July 2014 and have since donated almost $90,000 to local non-profit charities.

Since 1956, Miriam School has been helping children with learning disabilities throughout the St. Louis region excel and become successful. Through their small, nurturing environment, individualized approach, and staff’s expertise, Miriam helps more than 1,000 students who have complex learning disabilities within a 70-mile range of St. Louis. They provide three programs for students, including Miriam School, Miriam Academy, and Miriam Learning Center, an elementary and middle school, a high school, and an educational center for those who wish to remain in their current environment while accessing Miriam’s range of services, respectively.

“We are so excited to be partnering with Katie’s on this event,” said Janine Lawler, Individual Giving and Events Manager at Miriam School. “Miriam School has a long history of helping children with learning disabilities unlock their potential, and we are grateful for being the next local nonprofit organization to benefit from this great event.”

All funds donated from the Giveback Tuesday event will go directly toward Miriam’s annual tuition assistance campaign.

“With more than 50 percent of our students receiving some level of financial aid, the funds from this event will allow a number of our students to receive the educational environment and services that they need to reach their potential,” Lawler said.

Please join us in donating to Miriam School. The more you order, the more money we can raise! Remember: 100% of the profits from every purchase, dine-in, and carry-out from open to close will be donated!

Come Join Us August 30 for Our Next Giveback Tuesday!

Be sure to join us this month for our August Giveback Tuesday, which is set for Tues., August 30. This month, our Giveback Tuesday event will benefit Catherine Cares.

Every month, we are proud to feature a local nonprofit charity and donate 100% of the earned proceeds from the entire day to the charity. Lunch, dinner, drinks, and carry-out all go to the designated charity. We started Giveback Tuesday in July 2014 and have since donated over $70,000 to local non-profit charities.

Catherine Cares provides restaurant and fuel gift cards to families of children who receive a devastating diagnosis. They provide gift cards to their hospital partners, which include Mercy Hospital, Cardinal Glennon, St. Louis Children’s Hospital, and Missouri Baptist in St. Louis and Cincinnati Fetal Center in Cincinnati. These gift cards are distributed through the hospitals to families when a diagnosis is given.

“Our gift cards help alleviate an immediate need that families might have,” said Lauren Turley, founder and co-owner of Catherine Cares. “When your world is shaken by an unexpected diagnosis, taking care of everyday tasks like meal planning and grocery shopping seems much too overwhelming. Our gift cards help take away that stress during an extremely emotional time and let the families know that they are not alone.”

Currently, Catherine Cares is embarking on a new project, which will provide Catherine Cares Build-A-Bear Heartbeat Bears to families.

“When a baby receives a life-threatening prenatal diagnosis, our hospital partners will have the ability to record the heartbeat of the baby, put the recording device in the bear, and present the bear to the family,” said Turley. “Not knowing how much time they will have with their precious baby, the family will be able to cherish the sound of their baby’s heartbeat for years to come.”

Catherine Cares began in December 2014 when Turley was 31-weeks pregnant with her second daughter, Catherine Marie.

“My husband and I discovered that Catherine was given a prenatal diagnosis of Trisomy-18 and was given a short life expectancy,” said Turley. “She was born unexpectedly at 33 weeks and lived for an hour. Catherine Cares is her legacy.”

Since becoming a 501(c)(3) in March 2015, Catherine Cares has donated over $12,000 worth of gift cards to their hospital partners. All funds raised during this Giveback Tuesday will go toward restaurant gift cards to Katie’s Pizza and Pasta Osteria, as well as to help cover the initial costs of their heartbeat bears.

Please join us in donating to Catherine Cares. The more you order, the more money we can raise! Remember: 100% of the profits from every purchase, dine-in, and carryout from open to close will be donated!

Please call us at (314) 942-6555 with any questions or visit us online at www.katiespizzaandpasta.com. Read more about Catherine Cares at www.catherinecares.org.

Join Us September 18 for a Special Brunch Event With Rack + Clutch!

Make sure to mark your calendars for Sunday, September 18 for our special brunch event with local mobile boutique Rack + Clutch! Come out between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to enjoy brunch from Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria and listen to live music on our patio. Rack + Clutch’s truck will be parked out front so you can shop for affordably chic clothing and stylish accessories.

Rack + Clutch was created when owner and operator Emily Ponath saw 2 girls in Los Angeles operating a fashion truck, and she decided to bring that concept to St. Louis. They have about 50 stops all over the city that they visit over the course of 2 to 3 months, including La Patisserie Chouquette, 4 Hands Brewery, Southwest Diner, Wells Fargo, and Green Goose Consignment on Hampton.

Emily has been operating her store for 3 years and had previously worked with several local apparel companies throughout St. Louis. Currently, she’s busy working on growing Rack + Clutch’s online business.

Emily was excited to jump at co-hosting this event with us because she loves collaborating with local companies, including Slide Piece Food Truck. “Any opportunity to work with other local business owners who love what they do and are so amazing at it makes us very excited,” she said. “I think the customers will enjoy the collaboration and, of course, the pizza and shopping opportunity.”

We hope to see you here at Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria on Sunday, September 18!

Don’t Miss the Next Takeover Event at Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria With Slide Piece Food Truck!

Katie's fried green tomato pizza

Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria is at it again, and this time we are partnering with Katie’s brother, Tommy Lee, the owner and operator of Slide Piece Food Truck, for a special Pizza Takeover event! The event will take place starting September 12th and ending September 17th. We will be featuring a fried green tomato pizza, which comprises of stracciatella, calabrese, pepperoncini, basil, balsamic, and arugula.

This is Katie’s first time collaborating with her brother (aside from those egg and cheese sandwiches they created when they were kids). Tommy and Katie dreamed up the idea of creating their very own fried green tomato pizza, which was inspired by Katie’s incredible caprese salad!

Tommy has owned Slide Piece Food Truck for almost a year and typically stops around all of the Greater St. Louis region, including BJC, City Garden, office parks, city and county parks, military bases, and at private events. They are the only food truck that provides gourmet sliders throughout the city, and they focus on providing a seasonal and sustainable product to various venues throughout St. Louis. Before Slide Piece, Tommy managed a couple of progressive restaurants, which influenced his culinary style, especially Root Down & Linger in Denver. He also has a long history working with nationally recognized restaurants not only in St. Louis but also in Denver, Wisconsin, and Alaska.

Join us at Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria from September 12 and 17 to enjoy this special fried green tomato pizza. You won’t want to miss it!
