Join Us for Our Giveback Tuesday Event on September 12!

Join us this month for our September Giveback Tuesday, which is set for September 12. This month, our Giveback Tuesday event will benefit The Oasis Institute.

Every month, we are proud to feature a local nonprofit charity and donate 100% of the earned proceeds from the entire day to the charity. Lunch, dinner, drinks, and carryout are all included. So far, we have donated more than $120,000 to local nonprofit organizations!

Funds raised from this Giveback Tuesday event will help support the organization’s Intergenerational Tutoring Program, which is the largest tutoring program in the nation. The funds will help purchase books, create more session plans, and initiate recruitment efforts for new tutors.

“We have 1,997 tutors in St. Louis in 213 schools in 23 school districts,” said Greg Lukeman, National Development Director at The Oasis Institute. “For some students, their tutor is the only consistent adult role model in their lives.”

Founded by Marylen Mann and a group of educators and volunteers in 1982, Oasis combines mentoring with literacy interventions. Their tutors work with academically at-risk K-3 grade students who are not reading at their grade level. In St. Louis alone, The Oasis Institute’s tutors have reached 4,307 students who are academically at-risk.

“Before third grade, students are learning to read, and after third grade, they read to learn,” Lukeman said. “If there isn’t an intervention by third grade, the students will continue to struggle and will more than likely never catch up academically with their peers. There is a higher chance that they will also drop out of school.”

In November 2012, The Oasis Institute was named to the Social Impact 100 Index, a list of the top 100 nonprofit organizations that have broad social impact in the United States. The organization has also received recognition from the Surgeon General, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the National Council on Aging.

Additionally, The Oasis Institute partnered with Generation to Generation, powered by Encore.org through Next Avenue/PBS.org in November 2016 in order to mobilize older adults to help children thrive. The campaign aims to engage one million people ages 50 and over to stand up and show up for kids.

Please join us in donating to The Oasis Institute. The more you order, the more money we can raise! Remember: 100% of the profits from every purchase, dine-in and carryout, from open to close will be donated!

Join us this month for our August Giveback Tuesday, which is set for August 22. This month, our Giveback Tuesday event will benefit the National Council of Jewish Women.

Every month, we are proud to feature a local nonprofit charity and donate 100% of the earned proceeds from the entire day to the charity. Lunch, dinner, drinks, and carryout are all included. So far, we have donated more than $100,000 to local nonprofit organizations!

Funds raised from this Giveback Tuesday event will help support the National Council of Jewish Women and their annual Back to School! Store, which is a one-day event in which more than 1,300 pre-selected elementary school children walk through and choose brand new items from the organization’s pop-up store.

The money raised will help purchase clothing, backpacks filled with school supplies, coats and winter wear, shoes, and personal care items for more than 1,300 underserved children.

“We are honored to be part of Katie’s Giveback Tuesday program on August 22,” Jennifer Scissors, a volunteer co-chair of National Council of Jewish Women’s Back to School! Store National Council, said. “It’s so gratifying to see children in need receiving the clothing and supplies they need to start school with enthusiasm, positive self-esteem, and a readiness to learn at our Back to School! Store. We know this could not be possible without the help of local organizations and businesses like Katie’s.”

Founded in 1985, the National Council of Jewish Women works to improve the lives of women, children, and families throughout the Greater St. Louis region. The organization helps more than 9,000 people each year and partners with more than 45 social service agencies, churches, and community organizations to identify qualifying children from low-income families whose needs are not currently being met by existing services.

Please join us in donating to the National Council of Jewish Women. The more you order, the more money we can raise! Remember: 100% of the profits from every purchase, dine-in and carryout, from open to close will be donated!
